Edgar is the king of Figaro and the older twin brother of Sabin. He is a major flirt, hitting on every woman he sees. When he and Sabin were 17, his father was poisoned to death by the Emperor since his father refused to support the Empire. His father's dying wish was to have the twin brothers rule Figaro together. However, Sabin wanted his own freedom instead of the throne. Edgar proposed that they will decide who takes over the throne with a coin toss. If it lands on head, they will choose their own paths. Knowing how much Sabin wants his freedom, Edgar cheated and used a double-headed coin, which gave Sabin a sure-win. Sabin chose to leave, and Edgar took over the throne. Not wanting to share his father's fate, Edgar pretended to support the Empire, but secretly worked with the Returners to rebel against them.

This little secret was revealed when Kefka was sent to Figaro to investigate the whereabouts of Terra. Edgar chose to protect Terra, and his cover was blown.

Edgar is a skilled engineer, and the reason Figaro Castle was untouchable was because he installed an engine which allowed it to swim underground and escape from any harm. However, during the World of Ruins, the Castle was stuck underground for some unknown reason. The only way to go into the Castle was through some secret underground tunnels discovered by a group of thieves. To save his Castle, Edgar had disguise as a thief in order to get a group of thieves to lead him to the Castle.

Edgar is an average character in battle, but he is a little slow. However, his powerful tools make up for his slow speed =) I use him often because his tools are good, and he's my favorite character in all RPGs =)
