If you played FF6, you'll probably remember the Opera event, one of the most memorable scene in RPG history. The song Aria di Mezzo Caraterre is probably the most stunning song ever written in the Final Fantasy series. Heck, I listened to it a thousand times and still hasn't get tired of it =) The only drawback in the scene, I must say, is that the sound used for Celes' voice was a little queer....Anyways, in the opera, the song is sang for two lovers named Draco and Maria. Draco left Maria to fight in a war between the East and the West, but Draco's troop lost the battle, and Prince Ralse from the East captured Maria and forced her to marry him. However, Maria's love for Draco did not die. She sang this song as she thought about Draco, swearing that she'll wait for him no matter what. Draco eventually came to rescue Maria, but what happens after that is unknown since Locke and Co. ruined the play =)
How does this relate to the story of FF6? Well, this little love story is parallel to the love story between Celes and Locke. Celes will always love Locke, and will wait for him no matter what. And Locke, as he promised, will always be there to protect Celes and rescue her when needed. Typical love story =)
I made three lyric images for Aria di Mezzo Caraterre, one using pictures from the SNES version, and the other using the Anthology version. The last one contains lyrics and english translation from the Italian version of the song ( thanks to Myral for the lyrics and the translation ) So if you want to sing along with the midi...knock yourself out.
