Locke is one of the Returners, and he served mainly as a contact between Edgar and Banon. He calls himself a 'treasure hunter' as he likes to seek for treasure, but he does some stealing on the side too =) He used to have a girlfriend in Kohlingen named Rachel, whom he loves dearly. Rachel follows him to his treasure hunting quests all the time, but an accident occured and Rachel was injured when she tried to save Locke. Due to the accident, Rachel lost all her memories. Her parents blamed Locke for the accident, and forbid him to see her anymore. Heartbroken, Locke left Kohlingen. After a year he came back to find that Rachel has been killed by Imperial Soldiers, and the last thing she said was his name. Locke blamed himself for failing her. Driven with guilt, Locke was determined not to let anyone down ever again. When Arvis told Locke to bring Terra away from Narshe, Locke, still feeling guilty about Rachel's death, vowed to protect Terra no matter what. Later he was sent to South Figaro, where he found Celes held as a prisoner. He was determined to save her at all cost, and ended up falling in love with her.

However, even though he has found his new love, he couldn't get over the guilt of failing Rachel either. So in the World of Ruins he hunted for the Phoenix magicite which is said to have the ability to bring back life, so he can see Rachel once again....

In battle, Locke is an average character. The advantage of using Locke is that he's the fastest character in your group, and the 'Capture' command is very useful, as it will give you a chance to get items and attack at the same time.
