One year passed since Kefka caused the re-alignment of the face of the world, and Edgar still has not been able to reunite with his companions. He heard that when the re-alignment occurred, Figaro Castle had sunk underground for protection, but has not been able to resurface ever since. There were rations prepared in the castle for this kind of emergency, but Edgar knew it wouldn't last long. He began to look for a way to reach the castle.
For a while he was not able to find a way to the castle, but one day in Nikeah he ran into a group of thieves who claimed to have escaped from Figaro Castle. He overheard that some monster has dug an underground tunnel to the castle's prison in the basement, and the thieves were able to escape through the tunnel. However, their leader could not escape and was killed by the monster.
Edgar drew up a plan to trick the thieves into showing him the tunnel. Disguising himself as a master thief (I assumed he learned a few things about thievery treasure hunting from Locke ^^ ) and using the alias 'Gerad', he offered the thieves his leadership to break into Figaro Castle to steal the treasures that were locked away in the basement. The plan worked as the thieves agreed on showing him the way to the castle.
While the thieves were getting ready to board the ferry to South Figaro, Edgar ran into Sabin and Celes in the local market. The two recognized Edgar right away, but fearing that his cover would be blown, he denied any claims on his true identity. ( although calling Celes 'Mi'lady' was a dead giveaway ^^ )
When they reached South Figaro ( with Sabin and Celes following them secretly ), the thieves guided Edgar Gerad through a network of underground caves before finally reaching Figaro Castle. When they reached the engine room, Edgar finally realized what was wrong with the castle - tentacle monsters have literally engulfed the engine. Edgar told the thieves to head to the treasure room while he holds off the monster. When the thieves exited the room, Sabin and Celes arrived, and Edgar finally revealed his identity to them ( although they probably knew all along ^^ ). They killed the monster and hid in the corner when the thieves came back to the room to find their leader. When they noticed their leader was nowhere to be found, they figured the monster got to him and left with the treasure. Edgar didn't bother to stop them as they have more important matters at hand (like, saving the world from the big bad evil clown? ^^)
After traveling around the world and reuniting with their other companions, they went to Kefka's domain to put an end to him once and for all. (and make sure you have your whole party when you go meet Gau's father with Gau and Sabin in your party. A hilarious scene will occur between Locke and Edgar ^^) When Kefka questioned why they were all battling so hard when they knew life would end no matter what they do, Edgar claimed that he will stay alive to build a kingdom where freedom is ensured. Thus, the final battle began as the group of 14 people, acting as the world's only hope, fought against the ultimate evil...
