Mi'lady, do not fear, for I would not steal anything from lovely ladies...except their hearts.Gerad is the name of the master thief that Edgar pretended to be in the World of Ruins. When the world was breaking apart due to the realignment of the statues, Figaro Castle submerged underground for protection, but the engine of the castle broke down and the castle could not resurface. The castle was isolated from the world, with its occupants living on emergency rations. Upon discovering this incident, Edgar could not find a way to get back to the castle to help his people. About a year later, Edgar saw a group of thieves who were supposed to be locked up in the basement prison of Figaro Castle in Nikeah. He overheard that underground monsters drilled a hole into the basement of the castle, and they were able to escape through this newly-made passage. In order to trick a group of thieves to show him this hidden passage, he took on the Gerad disguise and offered to be the leading figure of the group. Since the group's former leader died during their escape from Figaro castle, the group was willing to accept Gerad's leadership, and Gerad suggested that they should go to Figaro Castle to steal the treasure hidden in the castle. (see Story for further information)

Gerad's appearanceEdgar's appearanceAs you can see from the sprite rips on the right, Edgar puts on a new costume and some make-up when disguising as Gerad. He wears darker clothes to give himself a more mysterious look (The clothes are actually identical to his normal clothes...the green just becomes brown, and the light blue becomes dark blue ^^ ). His hair is now gray-coloured...I doubt temporary hair dye was invented in the FF6 world, so I'll assume he is wearing a wig :) And I would assume the eye colour changing contact lens were invented in the FF6 world, since his eyes becomes hazel-coloured instead of blue :) While the thieves could not recognize Gerad/Edgar as the King of Figaro (which is strange; you'd think they would remember the looks of the person who probably was the one to put them into prison in the first place), Celes and Sabin recognizes Edgar immediately, so I can't say his disguise is really an effective one :)

Edgar seems to be able to change to and from his disguise quite quickly too...when he discovered the tentacle monsters in the engine room, he was still wearing his Gerad costume as he revealed his true self to Celes and Sabin. When the battle screen shows up for the fight with the tentacles (which I would like to add is the *most* annoying battle in the whole game O_o), Edgar is back to his old green & blue attire. When the battle ends and the normal scenery resumes, Edgar is back to his Gerad costume. I guess he can't stand fighting with the dark Gerad costume, eh? :)

(Yes, I do realized the costume change in the battle was done to save time and memory space from making a new set of battle images for Gerad, but I just thought it was funny...heh )
